Challenge

In the past decade, our client has continued to learn about operational readiness (OR) with its contribution to the timely achievement of designed production levels and ultimately a sustainable future for operations. Initial OR thinking was captured in a comprehensive manual in 2012 and then revised in 2015. It was now time to bring the Manual up to date, in line with 2021 current practices and improvements, and make it a key first reference.

Scope

• Design a 4-week collaboration campaign involving four short interactive virtual sessions.
• Create targeted communications to engage participants within the campaign.
• Facilitate campaign kickoff to set the context and introduce digital whiteboard (30 mins).
• Facilitate manual working session to review current version and seek feedback (2 x 2 hours).
• Facilitate validation session to review updated manual based working session feedback (2 x 2 hours).
• Facilitate alignment session to present 2021 DRAFT manual (30 mins).

Outcomes

• The collaboration campaign harnessed the collective knowledge of 97 people from around the world.
• Sessions were run within Australasian and European time zones to ensure we could access the right people at the right time.
• Participants made over 500 comments and mapped out philosophies for both future state operations and how to work as an integrated project team.
• The final alignment session brought all the participants together to celebrate their hard work in creating a document that’s easy to navigate, has a more clear and uniform structure with 36% fewer words and 50 fewer pages.
